Steam Turbine Quick Closing ESD Valve gets a REXA
ACIS will soon be installing the first REXA Electraulic™ actuator on one of the quick closing ESD steam valves for the oxygen compressor’s steam turbine. The REXA closes the steam valve with a stroke length of 75mm in under 1 second to prevent over -speed. The REXA is the only proved high speed actuator featuring a failure action that is SIL2 certified. This is only a part of a project to completely get rid of the costly and troublesome control oil system of the turbine.
Steam Turbine Speed Control Valve gets a REXA
REXA actuators are already successfully used on some of the steam turbines speed control where in most cases the speed is controlled within 1 rpm from setpoint. Above is an image of a REXA Rotary actuator that was serviced and getting ready to be tested before delivery to Sasol at the ACIS facility in Secunda.
